The True Power of Community is surrounding yourself with like minded people. Community is under utilized but can change your life. So let’s talk Community…
For some reason, a lot of people just love the idea of being “self-made.” We love getting swept up in the romance of being the kind of people who pull themselves up by their bootstraps and hustle their way to the top, with no help from anyone else. It’s an appealing idea, but it’s a myth and completely false.
When you take a look back at history, you’ll find that the most influential people in the world never got there alone. Instead they were part of a community of friends, peers, and mentors who helped push them to become the people they were destined to be.
As anyone should, you need to come to terms with the fact that we all need support, and surround yourself with a community of others with similar likes. No matter how talented you may be, you’re not going to get very far without the power of community.
You have seen the market and how the trends have been going. Your property has gained some great value. Now it’s time that you have decided to sell…but you have tenants. So what can you do and what can’t you do? That’s the question.
Let’s talk about some of your options here.
I recently went on my honeymoon…Thanks for all the kind thoughts and words. While I was on this honeymoon, I had this constant thought going through my head. Never before have I had this but once I took the time to hash it out, I realized why.
See since I’ve become self-employed my constant thoughts are on how to build my business. As most business owners understand, it’s really hard to turn that off. Especially if it’s new and needs to grow. But I always try to want to live my life in the moment. It has always served me well and I highly recommend it. Of course it’s tough to do on the daily but think about it for a moment. You can’t change yesterday and only your moment today can you shape the outcome of tomorrow. So sitting on the couch and wishing or dreaming for things to happen isn’t going to work. You only get out what you put in.
It was this very thought that made me realize that while on my honeymoon, I could live in the moment and at the same time shape my future. So what is it that I’m actually rambling about? That’s the core of this blog. I was away from my work and everyday life for 3 weeks. I was forced at times to just be me and live in the moment. I was forced to just let go and BE. We were at times on Islands with no internet or phone service. There was no TV or distractions, I literally was forced to just be. I was forced to sit and watch life in the now.
It was during these moments that I learnt some amazing lessons. Ones that I will and must apply to my business. See where we went was the Philippines. An amazing tropical paradise that has some of the friendliest people I have ever met. But a lot of these people really have nothing more than their day-to-day. Some live a very simple life, but it’s this simple life that is fascinating to me.
So what is it that made me so excited to come back and apply to my business? That’s the true purpose of this post. Lets get into it now.
There are a lot of options when it comes to hiring your next Realtor. There are so many of us out there. I get it and understand if you think I’m not right for you. But what I can tell you is there is a true reason that you should give me a chance to win you over. I’m young but not too young, I’m experienced but not jaded and I have the confidence needed to make you money!
The battle is between the city and the suburbs but also what it is that you want out of life. The quality versus the quantity, the conversation will always continue. Each has it’s benefits and drawbacks. I became kind of a suburbanite this year, and I continue to be pleasantly surprised by my new community and everything it has to offer.
Port Moody is one of three cities in the Tri-Cities. The other two are Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam. But this focus is on Port Moody and specifically the three villages that are perfectly positioned within it (Newport Village, Suter Brook Village, and Klahanie Village). Port Moody really is a hidden gem that is growing so much and will be a completely different place very, very soon.
Port Moody is North Vancouver’s Lonsdale before it was what it is today. Port Moody is North Vancouver’s Deep Cove before it was what it is today. It is made up of some really great neighbourhoods and areas that you must get to know.
1. Newport Village; This Village is on the corner of Ioco Road and Guildford Way and is home to many great establishments. Newport Village has a laid back vibe feeling to it. More of an older demographic as it is the older of the 3 villages but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking life. It’s actually full of life! This location is very close proximity to Eagle Ridge Hospital. So a great place to be located should you want to be close to this.
I visit this village on almost a daily basis. I use it as an excuse to go to the cozy coffee shop Gallaghers Cafe (Be sure to pick up a stamp card for your coffees, Buy 10 get 1 free). This is a great place to people watch and it has a covered patio. So on those rainy days grab a warm coffee and get some work done. It’s a good place to stop when walking your dog as they have a secret cookie jar of treats for them. Also nestled in Newport is Brown’s Restaurant, a must have for an area like this. Really one of our must go places if we don’t feel like cooking or just wanting to get out of the house. This Browns has one of the best patios in the city. Great in the summer time of course. Another great stop is St James’s Well Pub. Live music on the weekends and always packed then too. Looking for a great spot to watch the hockey game or football game, really any sporting event, this pub is for you.
There really are so many great shops in this Village. Everything you need is here, you really don’t have to leave this village at all.
Let’s get down to the brass tax of a new build and Pre-sales. As I’m sure you are seeing all of their beautiful marketing. That place looks so nice and enticing. But make sure to take a step back to understand the advantages and disadvantages of buying a pre-sale condo. Especially in a market like Vancouver and its surrounding areas like Port Moody, North Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster.

1.) Beautiful New Condo Building
Can you imagine yourself as the first owner of that new place? Everything is shiny and clean, has a great design and top technology. Many new buildings in Vancouver are LEED certified and are built to be greener and more environmentally sustainable in design, construction and operation than older buildings. Typically they too have state of the art fibre optic cabling too. Great for options when it comes to your digital needs like phone and internet.
Is it better to focus on the neighbourhood or state of the property listing – or can you get both?
I suggest that you should choose location, every time, especially in the Vancouver market. Even in its surrounding areas, like New Westminster, Burnaby, Port Moody and North Vancouver. These are all great locations that have some good neighbourhoods to keep an eye on. It will appreciate more in time.
Things to keep mind are that the quality of a home can change – or be changed – but location never can, and it’s the most crucial aspect of property value.
